MACKINAW CITY SKATING ASSOCIATION
FINANCIAL POLICY
ADOPTED MARCH 9, 2004
1. At the time of player registration, all fees including USA hockey and MCSA fees will be paid in full. Fees will be set at the June or July MCSA Board meeting. Notices will be sent to each registered skater no later than two weeks following so that players/families are aware in advance of fees and that they are due in full at registration. Approximate registration dates will be provided in the letter.
2. If a payment schedule is requested, a signed copy from both the player/family and a MCSA Board member will be in place. If the payment schedule is not kept, the player will not be allowed to skate. THE ONLY EXCEPTIONS TO THIS RULE WILL BE EXTREMELY EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES, WHICH WILL BE ADDRESSED BY THE BOARD.
3. When equipment and/or skates are handed out, it shall have been paid for at registration or must be paid in full at the time it is received. A listing will be available at hand out so that persons handing out equipment will know who has already paid.
4. When equipment and/or skates are returned, it will be in good, clean condition. If damage has been done to jerseys, etc., the appropriate fees will be charged for replacement. These fees will need to be paid in full before the player is allowed to sign up the following season.
5. All accounts must be paid in full before a player will be allowed to register for the upcoming season. This includes fulfilling the volunteer hour requirements or paying the appropriate fees. It also includes any equipment damage fees that may have been incurred. A letter shall be sent out in June/July to those players with outstanding balances notifying them of our policy. A listing will be provided to persons working registration of players with balances due.
6. If a player is not paid in full, THEY WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO REGISTER and they will be placed on a waiting list for the appropriate team. If space is available at the time fees are paid in full, he/she will be allowed to register. THE ONLY EXCEPTIONS TO THIS RULE WILL BE EXTREMELY EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES, WHICH WILL BE ADDRESSED BY THE BOARD.
7. This policy will be available upon adoption of the MCSA Board for any individual requesting this information.
8. For players asking for financial assistance with fees, the following criteria must be met:
a. Players will be responsible for $50 in MCSA ice fees, all USA hockey registration fees, equipment and skate rental, or a maximum of $100 per player. We feel that this provides a sense of ownership to MCSA and offsets the majority of costs incurred. This equals $5 per week for the 5-month period of skating.
b. Players/parents will agree to provide the volunteer hours necessary to fulfill MCSA volunteer agreement by the conclusion of the season.
c. All previous balances must be paid in full as outlined in item #4.
d. MCSA will secure sponsorships for the balance of fees due for the season.
